About Us
At Stel Piano Studio, we share a love of helping students discover music: from little ones exploring songs with their parents to adults beginning or continuing their piano journey.
Pianist and educator Grace Stelmaschuk founded the studio in 2018.
In 2025, we moved into our West Hillhurst location, creating a welcoming space for our musical community to learn, create, and grow.
Our teachers share a commitment to kindness, creativity, and thoughtful instruction. Through playful group classes and personalized piano lessons, we build on each student’s interests and strengths, developing musical skills and confidence while nurturing a lasting love of music.
What Makes Us different?
1
Play-Based Learning
Students learn through games, creativity, movement, improvisation, and engaging hands-on activities rooted in research-backed, play-based pedagogy. This approach helps students stay motivated while building confidence, musical understanding, and long-term retention at the piano.
2
Strong Classical Foundations
Students develop strong musicianship through technique, ear training, sight reading, and thoughtfully sequenced repertoire rooted in classical and research-informed pedagogy. We focus on building confident, well-rounded musicians with excellent long-term musical skills and understanding.
3
Musicians for Life
We believe music education should build more than just piano skills alone. Our goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and independent musicians while developing creativity, discipline, and a lifelong connection to music. Whether students pursue piano casually or at a high level, we hope music always remains a meaningful part of their lives.
Areas we serve
Stel Piano Studio proudly serves families across Calgary with both in-studio and online piano lessons.
Our main studio is located in West Hillhurst on 7th ave NW, right off of Crowchild NW. It is easily accessible to nearby communities such as Kensington, West Hillhurst, Briar Hill, Bankview, and Capitol Hill.
We also host students from surrounding neighbourhoods including Marda Loop, Mount Pleasant, Crescent Heights, Rosedale, Tuxedo Park, and Sunnyside.

Let's Make Sure This is the Right Fit for Your Family
